The Mara is excellent to visit throughout the year as resident wildlife can be spotted all year round! The busiest, most popular season is between July and October, when the Great Migration takes place. The quieter months are April/May and November, with fewer tourists/ vehicles to be seen and the park is lush green due to rain fall! It is also pocket friendly as prices are reduced.
Mara Bush Camp and Private Wing are permanent camps, however are very conscious of the environment. When the camp was built we ensured that we did not cut down any trees/vegetation, rather built around it. This has given the camp a true African Bush feel! Mara Bush Camp & Private Wing are GOLD eco-rated and adhere to the highest standards of environmental protection and a low carbon footprint.
There are 12 guest tents in total at each camp. Mara Bush Camp has 10 triple tents and 02 family tents, all facing the river. Private Wing has 06 luxury triple tents and 02 family tents, overlooking the river and 04 forest tents.
Yes, the camps are unfenced, however, we do have Maasai security throughout the camp at all times! Each tent is allocated a Maasai security which escorts you around the camp between 6.00pm and 6.00am, when needed.

The drive is approximately 5.5 hours from Nairobi, depending on how many stops/bathroom breaks you take. Yes, Mara Bush Camp does have their own fleet of 4x4 vehicles and driver guides based in Nairobi which can be booked through our reservations team! The road to the main Sekanani gate is in good condition.
The flight from Nairobi takes approximately 1 hour. Mara Bush Camp reservations team can assist with booking your flights. Flights depart from / to Wilson Airport.
Olkiombo Airstrip is the closest to the camp. It is approximately 08 – 10 minutes drive away. If a guest is unable to land there, the second option would be to land at Musiara Airstrip which approximately 45 minutes drive away.
We don’t rush our guests! Game viewing and our stunning landscapes are best enjoyed with ample time! Hence, we always recommend that you stay for a minimum of 3 nights, allowing you 2 full days to enjoy the Mara and the various activities offered.
Early morning (0630hrs – 0930hrs) and late afternoons (1530hrs – 1830hrs) are the best times for game viewing.
